Kid Rock’s ‘Halfway 2 Jesus’ preaches a New American Jesus

Kid Rock’s new album, Halfway 2 Jesus, features Eminem and Lil Wayne and tells listeners that walking with Jesus makes life better. But after hearing the whole album, I’m convinced the Jesus in these songs is a different Jesus. He’s part life coach, part drinking buddy, and part granddad who winks at sin.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction…”
